Baldi's Basics and Baldi's Basics Classic are both names that are used to refer to Fundamentals of Education and Learning by Baldi, which is a parody survival horror game that was developed by Micah McGonigal, an independent game developer from the United States. The game is a parody of educational video games from the 1990s, namely Sonic's Schoolhouse, IM Meen, and 3D Dinosaur Adventure. It does this by using bad graphics and themes that are similar to those of such games. Baldi's Basics was first made available as a beta version on March 31, 2018, for both the macOS and Microsoft Windows operating systems. The entire version of this game, which includes its core gameplay as well as additional features, was made available for early access on June 12, 2020. This version is known as Baldi in Basics Plus.
The main character's friend had seven notebooks that he had forgotten at the school in the neighborhood. However, he was unable to go and get them since he was running late and "rehearsing," so he had to ask the protagonist to go and retrieve them for him. The player is introduced to a teacher by the name of Baldi upon his first arrival. Baldi will provide the player with three fundamental arithmetic problems each time the player finds a notepad. The player will be awarded a reward if he is able to successfully complete all of these exams. Additionally, Baldi is a character who is very irritated, and after the teacher has given the player a duty to accomplish, they will begin to pursue them if they deliver the wrong response. In order to continue searching for every other notepad, the main character must continue to avoid other students and a number of obstacles. It is possible for the player to experience an alternate ending if they opt to offer wrong answers to every question. This alternative ending will include a distorted version of Baldi as well as another hidden character who will compel them to trash the game before it automatically finishes.
